The workshop provides the student with an introduction to traditional commercial platemaking with photopolymer plate and understand the process of letterpress printing on a commercial Heidelberg Platen press. The machine used in the process is very rare in Singapore, the technician will guide you to the flow of making plate, exposing the negative onto a plate in the dark room, follow by washing on the plate washer. Once harden, the printshop uncle will show you how to do the printing with a commercial Heidelberg printing press.
As the process will be mainly done with the machines, there won't be much hands-on. There will be explanation on the process.
The student will get to print a set of 15 cards of one design student-designed.
- student artwork to be linework of either text or illustration (no solid area)
- 1 colour artwork in Black C100M100Y100K100 (.eps or .ai, other formates to email)
- artwork size should fit within A6 card, design area at most 50% of the card
The student to submit artwork for confirmation if the artwork is good to make a plate.
